Raw but beautiful, this is a story that will hit you right in the soul. Splinters of my Soul explores the agony of a sexual assault survivor with unflinching honesty. Delving deeply into social issues like police corruption, drug addiction, and marital conflict, this is not a story for the faint of heart, but it is a story that very much needs to be told. Though the story itself is a work of fiction, the events happen to real people in America every single day. You will find yourself crying alongside the characters as they struggle to work their way through their various trials (one worse than the next), but with those tears comes catharsis. The writing here is powerful, and the author pays careful attention to detail with character development. 1000% recommended. Nikki Boccelli-Saltsman

5 out of 5 stars. In The Cloverdale Projects Unspeakable EVIL Wears A Badge. Splinters Of My Soul” is a powerful story of corruption, racism, secrets, retribution, healing, and redemption. The author intricately weaves the fabric of the plot by following three of the main characters from the present to the past to the present again. We follow Tiffany and Tony who fought their way out of an environment of abject poverty, drugs and crime in the Cloverdale projects to success as a gynecologist (Tiffany) and orthodontist (Tony). The problem is, that they both carry with them horrendous secrets that continue to affect their lives and drive their actions in the present. The status quo dramatically takes a turn, when Tiffany treats a young girl who has been brutally raped, and irreparably damaged both physically and mentally–for life. She is the 6th young rape victim in the Cloverdale projects and the corrupt law enforcement team ignores and sweeps the crimes out of sight. Tiffany has finally had enough. She is at a breaking point. The third person in the equation is Sergeant Smith, a serial rapist, criminal and murderer, targeting the poor and vulnerable. When the story opens, he is planning the murder of his wife so he can claim a $500,000 insurance policy for his retirement. He is also planning to once again attack Tiffany. Can Tiffany stop Sergeant Smith? Will Tiffany and Tony reveal their secrets to each other? The answer is YES … but the HOW is why you MUST read this book. The answers will literally have you perching on the edge of your seat, reading as fast as you can. Try NOT to hold your breath! “Splinters Of My Soul” is a definite WINNER. Vision Quest
What happens when the person who vowed to protect a community is its biggest problem? A dirty cop and siblings with secrets too painful to reveal converge in SPLINTERS OF MY SOUL, a riveting tale of good and evil, wrought with themes of redemption and retribution. Tiffany (a gynecologist) and Tony (a dentist), are a brother and sister who beat the odds by rising above their humble childhood in the projects known as Cloverdale. They moved to Cloverdale because of their mother’s difficulty making ends meet after the death of their father. While they lived in poverty, familial love was never in short supply and the siblings were well grounded and supportive of one another. Now adults, they have all the trappings that go along with a successful professional life, but still are committed to helping other residents of the Cloverdale community through volunteer work and by providing free services. Sergeant Smith, the officer assigned to protect and serve the community, is nothing short of a scoundrel. He terrorizes residents for years and unfortunately even Tony and Tiffany are touched by his evil deeds. In addition, he has a strained relationship with his wife and a non-existent one with his children. When the story begins, Tony is attending Sergeant Smith’s funeral. But how did he end up dead? And what does that have to do with Tony and Tiffany? Before these questions are answered, the author takes us on a journey through past and present, teaching us along the way about the events that shaped the lives of the central characters. Kimberly Morton Cuthrell has done an expert job weaving a tale that is both entertaining and emotional. She has taken the prototypical “bad cop” a step further and crafted a tale that shows the impact one evil man’s deeds can have on an entire community. She adds a touch of intrigue that is sure to have readers anxiously flipping pages in hopes of discovering how the various events will pan out. She fluidly alternates through time with the deft of a seasoned writer, and by doing so helps readers understand how events of the past influenced each of the character’s present behaviors. In an age where it seems as if new authors are a dime a dozen, Cuthrell shines. Stacey Seay of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers
